What changes the price?
- Chain location and layout: some require gearbox or engine removal.
- Complete kit: guides, tensioners, sprockets, seals, bolts and oil matter.
- Root cause: oil pressure, incorrect oil or neglected intervals can damage the new kit.
- Valve damage: a slipped/broken chain can turn maintenance into engine repair.
Confirm the fault before authorising the job

They have no universal lifetime guarantee. Oil quality, tensioner design, driving and engine family affect wear; follow manufacturer guidance and symptoms.
Can a diagnostic code prove the chain is stretched?
No. Correlation codes can also come from sensors, wiring, actuators or oil-control faults. Confirm mechanically or with signal analysis.
